Well I'm waiting for the weather to give me a break here in Northern ILL so I can take the beast down and get the exhaust system installed. Would have had it done before Christmas but UPS and the season screwed up the timeline. Flowmaster mufflers were due in on a Thursday, with the installation on Friday. Got e-mail on Wed that UPS was running late, I called and cancelled the install. Next day, UPS e-mailed the delivery was back on schedule, called the installer but he had already filled the slot. Oh well. My short list is down to 3 items that are all minor items. I was concerned that the 3 inch drop in the front wouldn't get over the speed bumps added a couple of years ago in our subdivision, but a trial run showed no problems. By the way, I can say that installing the stainless steel king pins really made a difference. Without power steering the steering wheel turns easily while standing still. I've installed many other updates and will be happy to share my experiences as requested. PS. The main reason I started working on this again was my beautiful wife. She said "I want to ride in it before I die" She also made me add A/C when she heard we were going on the route 66 tour next year. Will post another thread with more pics. I still have to modify the glove box liner due to the interference from the new A/C unit, make a center console and do the trunk but that's the easy stuff. Chuck

Where did you get the spindles from? What did you do to fit a 3 inch drop?

 

The front springs that provide the 3 inch drop are from Jamco, and Stainless Steel Brakes sells the Royal Kingpin Kit. Chuck

Very nice. Did you fab your own brackets to mount the Sanden compressor? The compressor bracket is the last piece I need to install the air in my 54. I have not found anybody that makes them.

 

I bought the end pieces from Vintage air, cut off the bottom and had them welded to the mounting plate I made. I fabbed a base plate and attachments and also had them welded. I used the mounting point for base plate using the bolt holes on the exhaust manifold that mounted the old generator. I used a brace running to where the fuel pump used to live, and used the two mounting holes that mounted the pump. I have an electric fuel pump and mounted the alternator where the power steering pump would normally mount. Chuck
