56 olds backup camera

This could be the last project on the 56 Olds. Yes, after tinkering with it for about 19 years, adding the backup camera is the last planned project. But who knows if something is ever done?
Any way as I have gotten older, I found that with the bucket seats it is not as easy to turn around and look over your shoulder when backing up. It was much easier with the bench seat that let you slide around a little during the process. I didn’t want to put the monitor on the dash and spoil the 50’s look and I would have had to rework the console I made to put it on that. I had to remove the glove box when I installed the Vintage Air a/c and never missed the storage space since I had plenty in the console. But the more I thought about it, behind the glove box door would be an ideal place for the monitor and it would be not be affected by bright sunlight. I decided to use a wired unit and wired it to a fused switch rather than to the backup light circuit.

Camera bracket was designed to mount on the license plate bracket. I mounted mine using the two upper holes of the license plate, the bracket and mounting are both black, so they are not even noticeable. Chuck
