1985 Delta 88 A/C box leak

Hi
Need some tech help, maybe a diagram would be helpful. My 1985 Delta 88's A/C drain must be plugged up because I've got water dripping inside on the passenger side from under the dash where the Evaporator Box is located.

Can anyone supply me with the info I need to unclog the drain hose. I need to know where the location is. Thanks

Never heard of that.

There is no drain inside the box. The heater core box is all under the hood. Maybe one of the A/C lines inside the box has a hole in it

There is a horizontal rectangular drain flap under the evaporator at the bottom of the HVAC module in the engine compartment. It is a pain to see it - use a mirror or crawl under the car or maybe you can catch a peek from the wheelwell.
It drains both condensate and any water flowing down the air intake screen by the windshield.
If plugged enough, water could rise and could migrate to inside of the car.

Hi Lady72nRob71

Yes, I know there is something there, just can't find an easy way of seeing it or getting something up in there to unclog it. Thought there may be an easy way & thought someone may have an image maybe from a repair manual or know where I could download an image of the box & the drain hose or whatever it's called. On normal working cars with A/C, you see a puddle under the car on the ground once you've run your A/C and parked in one spot........... Well, my puddle under the car is a drip so most of if not all the condensation is staying inside the box. Going to jack it up tomorrow & see if I can see it better & figure out a way to unclog it. Thanks for the info.

The manual does not show it except in this exploded view. Part 21 drain retainer.

It is about in the center of the box close to the firewall.
Hopefully the picture is readable....

Get her up on some ramps and look up ther and prod the flap outwards with a screwdriver. Maybe see if there is debris in there, too.
Be prepared to move fast it it decides to dump on you (like my rear quarter did to me once).....

Not to jack the thread, but will the heater core/A/C cover from a 84 Impala fit an 85 Delta 88?

I have a HC cover from a 84 impala, but it looks different

Thanks Rob
Well, we worked on trying to find the elusive plug/drain hole/hose/whatever for about 2 hours today & we got Stumped!!!!!!!! Could not see the stupid thing anywhere where it's suppose to be located. My nephew will be coming up this weekend & says he knows exactly where it is............. I hope so. What a pain in the ****. Thanks for the diagram Rob, was too small when I printed it out to be of any help but thanks for the effort. Hope we can get it done Saturday. I'll keep ya posted.
