1985 Delta 88 ashtray light

I am in the process of replacing this little light. I finally figured out how to get to it last night, but was tired so I didn't bother going to get the bulb for it.

I got the bulb today, and didn't get home until dark. I put the bulb in and it doesn't light (1893 bulb) but the tray isn't back in the spot yet either.

Two ?'s about this. Does the tray have to be screwed back into place to light? (Grounding issue) And how do I get it back in? Should I just undo the bottom tray on the dash? Doesn't look too hard, just a PIA. I couldn't do it in the dark, plus in my delvelpoment, you aren't allow to work of your car after dark

I do believe you need to have the tray grounded to the dash frame. If the bulb has one single contact and one wire to it (believe it does) then the tray needs to be grounded. No answer on the second question.

Makes sense.

I am going to have to drop the bottom of the dash to get the tray back in, but since I broke my foot the day after I dug into this, I can't do this right now
