Ashtray Light?

My 70 442 has the light package but I don't see an ashtray light. Where would it be? I have pulled out the ashtray. When I look around inside I only see a small hole in the upper right side plastic. Is that where it should be? Anyone know what color wire would power it? I guess it should be back there. I checked the manual but can't find a good picture. Anyone have a good picture of the light and wiring? Thanks

The small hole should have a blue plastic lens.

The bulb is mounted right behind it.

Access by removing the glove box liner.

i think you can get to it also by taking out the tach/clock.

I recently just replaced my dash with a nicer original dash, my old dash had the blue lens inside the ashtray, the new dash does not. The old dash when removed had a small metal bracket mounted to the top of the ashtray that held a bulb and completed the ground so it would work. My new dash didnt have that bracket so I drilled out the rivet and mounted it to the ashtray n all works good now and the wire connected to my light bulb in my '72 is gray, as are all interior light wires. Hope that helps a lil.
Would be most accessible from the glove box side, can reach from tach but very awkward.

I added the factory courtesy light harness to my 71 442 which included the ashtray light. I have attached pictures that should help you with both.

Thanks. That is all very helpful. I am going to pull the glove box liner and take a look.
