1980-1985 Oldsmobile delta 88 and regency 98 owners
This 84 Delta belongs to a friend of mine and since he is not on the forum, I thought I would share a picture of his sharp Delta, out enjoying a run down the Natchez Trace Parkway just outside of Nashville last fall with our Olds club chapter.
@ ramblinwreck thanks for the re size looks better now, got any plans or mods for yours anytime soon?
@85T clean ride bro love the sunroof is that factory? Also those SSIII wheels looks great aswell.
Anybody with a 80-85 Delta 88 or Regency 98 post up what your working on or future plans.
Over the past weekend I changed my differential gear oil cover and gasket and switched to synthetic in the process.
Installed my white reverse light smd led to go with my plate light.
Next installing new rear shocks, re check differential oil level, install new 4x6 projector halo head light modules with my existing 6k hids.
Prob polish both front and rear chrome bumpers during this week.

I just picked up this 77 98 car minus the engine&trans from a member here. 1001coins for $400
He was going to junk it because when parting it out the squeeze wasn't worth the juice.
I picked up a 307 engine and th400 trans from another member here (coppercutlass) for around 300 bucks.
Hopefully I'll have a cool winter beater for under 1k by the end of next week.

Rare to see a halfway decent factory issued rear end in an 84'
Full tint windows from the factory is nice as well. (A01)GU1= 2.41 gear ratio
G80= limited slip differential
G87 = 8.5" rear axle
OMG an 84 D88 that isn't cream or that light rose/taupey/champageny color w/a brown interior .....
That is really sweet & nicely equipped.
Love red on red ... very classy.
Reminds me of my 81 XSC Toro.

See if it's worthy of saving or parting out ?.
Cars have always represented a place in time to me in my memories ... which gets me all nostalgic.
Lost my father way too young @ 52.
His owned the best stuff from @ 30-40 y/o.
1964 Riviera's x2
1965 Buick LeSabre (was too young to remember this one in the flesh)
1967 Delmont 88 Cpe
1968 Delmont 88 Holiday Sedan
1972 Toronado
1979 Delta 88
He also did part time work for a few Limo companies in the mid 80's ... which then got me hooked on the 80's Grand Marquis & Town Car's at the time. One of the last nice GM cars from the other company he brought home was an 85 Collector's Edition LeSabre sedan.
Want to talk about some strange looks I used to get .....
Running around on a bicycle as a younger teen going around to all the car lots & drooling over near-luxury & luxury cars vs all the stuff most kids my age lusted over.
Got a job later at a local LM dealer when I first got my license just to be around the cars & some of the people remembered me.
As cool the early/mid 60's to 72 era cars will always be .....
The later stuff that I like that I was actually able to put my hands on - saw with my own (2) eyes - drove - etc ... when it was new will always have an special place in my heart.
Speaking of nostalgia ...
Not that long ago I decided to go back to my old neighborhood up in NJ via Google street view.
There was a guy @ 5 blocks around the corner that bought a new black & red 84 D88RB coupe. This car was spotless 24/7 & absolutely stunning.
Just for gitts & shiggles never thinking in a million years this not-so-young guy nor his car would even be around damn year 30 years later ... I take a look at the street.
I am literally making my way down the street with the up arrow on my keyboard & in the distance I see what looks like a black D88.
Closer - closer & sadly, very VERY SADLY .....
It was in fact THAT car.
Time has not been kind to that car at all.
Even the top surfaces had lumps & bumps on it like someone had been using it as a trampoline.
Yep.
Add some music from the day that reminds you of that car & forget it .....
I'm sitting there wishing I could go back in time.
I wish I would have taken in interest in taking pics when I was real young.
(don't take enough now either)
It sucks I have next to nothing other than the memories in my mind.
All the "could have - should have's".
One house we lived in briefly had (4) parking spots out back.
3 spots were occupied by :
The 1967 Delmont
The 1968 Delmont
The 1972 Toro
The (2) 64 Riviera's were kept elsewhere at the time.
I'd about kill for a pic of the (3) Oldsmobile's together like that ... they're the ones that "hooked me" forever.
Sometimes I wish I had the money & the means to literally re-create such scenes I missed out on.

Sucks to be broke.
Pocket lint doesn't buy one much ..... so I pencil this one in as missed opportunity 57823499.

Lamp monitors would have been a nice too.
I always felt the 80+ cars look much better with them when sitting at the helm looking down the hood ... as I kind of prefer the raised center section of the 77-79 hood a bit better.
