Big Oldsmobile comfort can't be beat! Built for highway cruising! Before the Delta, it was the Delmont and before that, the Dynamic. ALL GREAT CARS!

don't usually put somebodys' for sale on. I can't seem to recall this body style. doesn't look to bad, sort of dressed up. I have worked on the small v-8 and they were pretty gutless, but awful thirsty.

That's pretty nice! I never cared for the slant back cuttys. I think 78 and 79 were the only years for them.

Hi,

this is my 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 coupe Royale Brougham.

I bought it in France a few months after it came from Florida in 2007.

It has 105.000 miles and pretty good condition. Just need to replace the intake manifold gasket because of a coolant leak.

A few pics:

The first day i saw it (in France), still with its Florida plate:

With great light:

Other than their large size, they were/are a great car. My 88 G body is a POS compared to the 81 Delta 88, I owned. The Delta out handled it big time and had better wiring, heat etc, the list goes on. Our First Nations up here drove the 80's Delta's into the ground. Very little maintenance and no oil changes, they still went a lot of miles, only the occasional timing chain on the 307's for major work. Great cars.

1984 Delta 88 Royale Brougham Coupe

I bought it 6 years ago with 23,350 miles. Now has 28,200 and usage declining each year. I have too many cars.

I even have 2 NOS moldings left and right for the belt that divides the vinyl top from the paint. Those later years cars all fall apart. I need to replace them soon.

All stock even still has ice cold R-12.

Can anyone tell me what model car parts are interchangeable with a 84 delta 88 royale brougham 2 door? I am trying to help my 16yr old son fix up his 1st car. It has a 307... Won't stay running. Before it died if driven at a steady speed of 45mph or higher for 10 mins or so it would seem as if it was flooded... Getting too much or not enough gas. Afterwards it would start if we poured gas into the thingy but now it won't. Replaced fuel filter. Any suggestions? After the mechanical part is safe I want to help him with cosmetics the car is in really good condition considering it's age that's why I asked about what other models are interchangeable? So I can call junk yards... Thank you soo much!

body parts are gonna limit u to delta 88's and 98's mostly G body's refer to the cutlass, Regal and Grand Prix b body's are bigger models like the lasabre and Bonneville

Another item to consider is the timing chain in your 307. Olds put plastic gears as the teeth of the chain which wear off and cause weird things before the engine stops at some point. Do you have records on your son's 307 to see if this was done? Mine went out at 150,000 miles. That was years ago and age might have a factor as well. It might be a good lesson for your son to help you with a timing chain replacement to make sure it is done if you don't have mechanical records. If you do this, pull the harmonic balancer with a puller secured in the holes toward the center of the balancer not from the edges. You will pull the outer balancer ring off and ruin the unit. Check youtube for step by step instructions there are many good tips available on line. I wish you the best with Father and Son project. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

It is easy. Log in and navigate Forums/Classified/Cars For Sale, the upper left corner has a button "New Thread", press it. You will have a blank screen to enter your title and text about the car. Toward the bottom there is a "Go Advanced" button, press it. You will then have a pop up screen on the left that will allow you to search your computer for photos. The more photos the better. Press upload and at the bottom of that window close the pop up. Back toward the original screen with the ad will be a Post Quick Reply button, press it like you did the your ad question post above. Easy. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles
PS: Make sure you post your location.

Hey all,

Time for pictures ... this is my new 85 Olds Delta 88 Royale Brougham. Grampa fresh! This will be my new daily driver. Plans for the car include checking the 307 timing chain, replace if necessary; AC repair; lowering; and a nice stereo.

Thanks, good info to have. I read about the nylon in the timing chain sometimes coming apart, and I got nervous. I still plan to just pop the fuel pump out and check chain tension.

85 is a really good looking body style, Olds had it for a number of years. Dad had as he called it "an 88 88" coupe, that came with what appeared to be ground effects on it. I think it was a 3.8 V-6 but he could pull 30 M.P.G. highway driving down to Florida for the winter. Car was loaded with all the options, but I don't remember a sun roof on it. white with a red interior. I've been looking for one like it, since he passed back in '07, but haven't come across one. Dad traded it off after the tin worm started having dinner on it, and got a Cierra sedan, and despised it. I told him he should have stayed with a full sized or Cutlass model.

Hello Mr Ummm: Beautiful car. Nice color. I suspect paint work since some emblems look to be in the wrong places. I really like the color and condition of the interior. The seats look new and very comfortable!! I would check the timing chain for sure. I think all the Olds V8's had the plastic coated cam gear which can break apart. I am not sure you can confirm if it has been replaced by just pulling the fuel pump. I think the timing cover should be pulled. I wonder if you have records from the previous owner to see if the chain was replaced? My .02 cents would be not to lower the car. It won't ride as well and the lowered frame has a risk of hitting a curb, speed bump, driveway, or the wheel stops they put in parking lots. I have a car with just such damage and it is a bit of a pain to fix the problems. Take care of that sweet ride. Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

Olds Delta 88/ 84 Olds Cutlass Calais 2-door for sale

I guess I'll add 2 more cents giving You four cents on what VistaCruiser71 already posted. I agree with Him. If it is not broken, Don't fix it. Lowering & adding too many aftermarket add-on's can actually "detract" from the value. Originality is King ! You have an excellent car with unusual options, like the sunroof top ! I would get the mechanical's fixed & keep the change ~! Thanks
I have a slammin' 84 Olds Cutlass 2-Dr that is for sale with an after-market 350 Cu.In.....It is a barn-burner ! For any additional info, Please let me know.

Here are my additional .02 cents about having a way loaded car and keeping it original. You have the popular options, windows/locks/tilt/cruise and the split front seat - great. Even the right mirror is usual for an 85. However, you are very lucky to have factory gauges. They are great to have to monitor the V8. Now you are at .06 cents! Regards, Trent in Los Angeles

Yeah, that body style ran from 1977 to 1984 on the Ninety-Eight, until 1985 on the Eighty-Eight, and all the way up to 1990 on the Custom Cruiser. The roofline on the Ninety-Eight changed significantly starting in 1980, becoming much more formal looking. The ones from the late '70s were more like the Eighty-Eights had throughout that period.

Everyone’s Delta looks really good I must say! I own an 84 Delta 88 Royale Brougham, picked it up for $180 and drove it on the trailer! Cleaned it up and here we are. It has 108000 miles on it but still runs strong, I absolutely love everything about this car and all other deltas. Big plans in the future like a 400+ swap and 7004r swap for big power. Right now it’s not the most rust free car but I hope to change that when I get a good money cushion in the bank.

Thought I might share my 1983 Master Oldsmobile hearse built off an Olds 98 sedan. This company literally made 2 of these cars and went out of business. This is number one. It's in rough shape but pretty easy fixes for most stuff.

I fondly remember those Delta's, unfortunately when it came to replacing my 88 Caprice LS I couldn't find any 80's Delta 88's in the Boston area that weren't rusted out. That was in the early 2000's
