1970 Delta 88 Convertible

I just bought this car 4 months ago so i thought I would share since I can finally post on here.

Got it from a retired couple, its a California car with no rust. It does have some minor dents, but other than that.. everything works and runs like a champ. I have to replace the front rotor, but as you know, these rotors dont exist anymore. So not sure what i am going to do. I

I will be having questions down the road as i get it cleaned up a little more. I will have better pictures later, but I love it so far.

Joe, that is a very cool car! Welcome to our site.

Since you need new rotors I would suggest having them turned as far as you can and replacing the pads. This should suffice until you can change the front brakes or find OE replacements (which are as rare as hen's teeth).

'70 Rotors

Joe,
I have a '69 Delta 88 CONVERTIBLE. You may want to try Rock Auto, they do have a lot of AC/Delco parts especially for the 1970. I was also able to find more parts for the 1970 from the major auto parts stores.

Good Luck and Nice Car!!

Sam

They don't have rotors though.....nobody does! There was a recent thread about this issue, I will look for it, and add it here!

Here it is....https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...sc-brakes.html

Welcome and good luck
with your pursuit for this beauty.
After all, the hunt is 1/2 the fun.

Love that baby blue.
Bigger pics and a few more would
be cool as well...

Rotors

Joe,
There is a post under cars for sale. He has new NOS rotors for a 1969 Delta listed for sale with the car, as extra parts. https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...r-package.html

thank you all

thank you all for the replies.

Yes, hunting the rotors has been a mission, but after seeing all the post here, i just replaced the pads for now. Turning them is not an option since it got to metal to metal and about 1/8 the rotor was grinded down. Extremely bad rotor to say the least.

That is a bummer that the rotors got damaged. Hopefully you can find some replacements on a salvage car.

Rotors

Joe,
I would check out the rotors for a 1972 Delta which are available. GM used the same master cylinder from 70-85 for the Delta, so the rotors are probably the same.

no those rotors are completely dfferent

it has been brought to our attention that with some minor machining that 2000 camaro rotors are extremely close in dimensions, will have a post about this as i am working on it now

Russell, that would be cool if you could find a work around for the front disc brakes on pre-71 B/C bodies. I know the rotors are near impossible to find for these cars. I'm glad I can find these parts for my 71 though. Let us know what you find.
