Will this work in my 71

Will this posi work in my 71 10 bolt? Not interested in 410s.

Are you going to race it ? If not 3.42 are what you need for performance.

If it is in fact for an 8.5" 28 spline rear, then yes, it will work in your 71 8.5" 10 bolt rear. I can't see any casting numbers in the picture so I can't confirm it is the correct one.

What Kenneth said.

I put 3.42:1 in my posi 8.5 and I'm wondering if I shouldn't have gone with 3.08 or 3.23 instead.

Don't forget that if you do decide to change your gear ratio, you will also need to change your drive and driven gear at the transmission end. Both are easy to change, although the drive gear is a little on the messy side since you need to remove the prop shaft and tailshaft to access it.

im only interested in the limited slip which I'll try to get numbers on. The trans is not an issue .

posi unit

Yes that will fit fine... It is a 8.5...The pinion shaft is the dead giveaway.

Go grab it looks like an original Eaton Positraction unit. you can rebuild it too even if the clutches are worn out. Jim
