has anyone used one of these g force crossmembers on a cutlass they look well built just wondering if anyone has installed one and how it turned out mine is a 1971 cutlass convertible any input will be appreciated

 

I have one on my car that was originally purchased when I was going to do a 4L80E swap. I was able to use it for my T56 without any problems. They are very well made. Keep in mind I have a hardtop so my frame is different, but still no issues.

If you are not changing to some other type transmission, the stock crossmember, either the stamped or tubular (lighter weight), is fine.

 

In fact, if you have a hardtop open channel frame, why spend a dime on an aftermarket crossmember? Simply slide the original to where the new trans requires it to be and drill holes as needed.

Since I have a 66 Cutlass convertible I plan to use a TH400 in I bought a G-Force cross member. The thing is built like a tank, maybe even overkill. The square and rectangle tubing is standard wall thickness stuff, .100-.125 but the exhaust pass through humps are formed 1/2 inch plate and the end plates that bolt to the frame are 3/8 inch plate. Can't complain about the quality or workmanship.

I would contact G-Force and confirm it will work with your convertible frame.

 

They make a crossmember for convertible frames....
