Will thes Spindles and bearings fit? (1969 Supreme)

Hi!
After 2 weeks and 500miles with my 1969 Cutlass Supreme V8/350, I need to replace my front left bearings and spindle!

What do you think of this kit? Is it worth?
And of course, will it fit??

http://m.ebay.com/itm?itemId=200928714267

Thanks a lot for your help, as I would need to get the parts quick!

My 2 cents, I'd be concerned they're made out of inferior metal. Since your staying with stock height, I'd pick up a good used one. I know there's several members here with spare parts. If you'd create a parts wanted thread and include your location I'm sure you could purchase a good used one at a reasonable price.

What's the issue with your front spindles that forces you to replace them? Can you describe why or post a pic showing why? If it's due to play on the wheel, first check to see if your ball joints aren't the problem.

As far as bearings (inner/outer) if you're doing that you also need to replace the race they sit in. General rule of thumb - new bearings - new race.

Thanks for your answers!

Driving back home yesterday, car suddenly began to make some weird noise, steering wheel was shaking, and car drives to the left!

Drove very slowly to home!
This morning, took the wheel off, drum brake shield off, there was no inner bearing left!! Just a ring remaining, and some parts of metal!

The spindle does not have its original shape and need to be replaced to have the new bearing.

The parts I listed on eBay seem ok, but I'm afraid of having some poor quality parts.

So what do you advise me? Taking this kit on eBay?
Trying to get better quality products?
Seen that Tamraz have spindles and Fusick bearings.

Thanks for you help!

I would purchase a good used spindle from a member here, say $25-40ish then purchase new bearings from your local auto parts store. That would be my suggestion.

X2 get a spindle on here or used one on ebay
far as bearings don't buy the bearings from Fusicks, you will get them a lot cheaper at any auto part store

Replacing both spindles is a waste especially if the other side is good. While you have the car up on stands, pull the other side and check out the condition of the spindle, grease seal, and wheel bearings/race. If one side failed it could be due to lack of lubrication or worn out parts. Was there any grease left in the side you took apart? If no - there's the problem. Might be the same on the other side?

I agree with the others, replace only what you need to. The spindle for disc brake cars should be the same from 68-72 comparably equipped cars, so you have a lot of wiggle room for donors.

Bearings/race/grease seal - go with Timken. There's also a gasket that goes on the back of the backing plate you need to pick up unless you can salvage the one you have. You could also cut out a new one from gasket material if you have some. Does France have distributors for these front end parts?

Yes, there was still grease left. But will also check the other side!

Did find these reference:
-TIMKEN SET2

-TIMKEN SET6

-TIMKEN 8507S

Are these parts OK for my 69 Supreme?

As long as those bearings and races are listed for inner and outer they should be fine. Tap the old races out from the inside using a brass drift. They come out fairly easily. Good procedure is listed in the CSM IIRC.

The third pic is the grease seal that gets installed on the inboard side of the rotor. Most of the time they will be ready to fail if they haven't been changed. Here's a pic of what mine looked like (original grease seal BTW) when I did my front end. You can see how the rubber is separating from the metal

The gasket I'm referring to is actually made of a thin rubber and goes behind the backing plate. You can just see the greyish part of it in this pic.

Don't forget the torque on the 3 bolts. The upper bolt is called the anchor bolt and get torqued to 120 ft/lbs. The other 2 get torqued to 90 ft/lbs.

Here you go Backing Plate to Spindle gasket
Motor City muscle Cars is the online store for In Line Tube. They've been good for me as a supplier. Some folks have mixed reviews.

Thanks!
Finally found a link too(in my previous post!)!

Auction description says that it is for Disc Brake, but I have Drum Brake... so do I also need the gasket?
If yes, is it the same item?

Oh, I didn't realize you were working with drum brakes. You probably don't need them.

Looking forward to seeing it done and driving! Only a week to get to France?? Man you're one lucky guy. When I order parts from the US and have them shipped to Canada I get raped on shipping charges, customs, brokerage fees and it usually takes up to 3 weeks to get here. Who did you have to kill to make it happen that fast?

Actually have my cars parked by my parents in law, so got all parts shipped to them!

They called me yesterday to tell me that about a dozen of packages arrived from the US this week (mostly thursday and friday)!!

Will go back to them on next saturday! can't wait to work on the car!

And yes, Allan, I was the first surprised!
Shipping is not so long from US to France!

I ordered a lot of parts from Fusick that have been sent on monday.... parts arrived yesterday!! 4-5days!!!!!!!
