Type O limited slip (12 bolt) for big Olds

Has anyone heard of new posi differentials being made for the 9.375, 12-bolt type O rears? I know there was nothing available last year but am hoping that something has become available. Wishful thinking...?

Thanks,
Chris

12 bolt "O" posi new

I would contact Jim Mitschke at JD Race and Restoration. He specializes in differentials, and is a very helpful guy.

I "believe" that he was modifying a new posi unit to fit the 12 bolt "O" axle. Though it may have been for the smaller cars.

If nothing else I am sure he would be able to answer you more definitively.

I got a new posi diff for mine from Supercars Unlimited (back in '05-'06), I believe its a Ford 8.8" diff machined to fit a Type-O.

None of these parts work in the big car carrier that the original poster is asking about.

The posi carrier & gears that you want to locate are the ones used in the 1971-1973 Buick Riviera boat tail cars. The Riviera came with 3.07 gears with optional posi while the Riviera GS came with 3.42s & posi as standard equipment. Buy the carrier & gears & swap them into your housing.

If I recall correctly someone is now making a 3.55 gear ration crown & pinion for that carrier.

Thanks for the replies. I'll let you guys know what works out. I have to rebuild my TH400 again... this time with heavy duty clutches, etc. and then it's back to the rear.
