Rear Axle Stamping Question

Hello guys:


Can anyone tell me what these stampings on my differential stand for?


#402227 (GM part # for case?)
CFD4
*263*

Correct on the P/N. The 263 is the 263rd day of 1969 when your differential housing was cast. Thus does not mean the rear axle assembly was completed on this date - there is another stamping on the housing at 9 o'clock position next to the cover that has a code for when the differential itself, axle shafts, etc.. were added to the housing.

The other code Joe from joesw31 would know the answer on.

On other cast iron parts CFD = Central Foundry Division
Don't know what the 4 would mean.
