Question Muncie casting and stamping question

Hey Casting and Stamping Experts,
I've been poking around and coming up empty on a casting question. Anybody know what the stylized "R-I" casting may represent on a (67/68?) Muncie 4speed? There is also a large numeral 8 directly "below" the R-I. I believe my car is numbers matching, and I'm looking for the Experts' opinions whether the VIN derivatives and date code stampings look legit. See pics below. If legitimate, the trans date code P8T21 looks correct for my build: Dec 21, 196(7/8). My cowl tag shows build of 12E - fifth week of December, 19(67). If no work on Sundays, then my car was assembled on Monday the 30th or Tuesday the 31st. Kind of neat to narrow it down like that! The VIN (344878M231134) matches the derivatives on the block and trans, if those are legitimate.

Opinions?
