Rear Axels Welds

Rear Axels Welds

Hi Everyone I was wondering the best way to fix what I call a Minor problem,I have 2 hairline leak's coming some where in the welds that go around the axle to the pumpkin,I tried JB Weld It worked for awhile I was thinking on cleaning up the JB Weld and trying something else to seal it,I'm not good on welding but what are my options Any Ideas welcomed Thanks Steve

Where is it leaking from exacty? The axle tubes are press fit with just a plug weld to keep them in place. If you are a novice welder don't even think about a repair yourself. When welding cast iron you need to really know what you are doing.

I can't tell but it looks like from the weld seam somewhere on the seam on both sides ,So I should have a rear end guy do it ,I was told the best way is to grind the welds off and re-weld?

ultra black rtv sealer. If the housing is cracked, however, you will need a new diff.

The center section should be cast steel, not cast iron.

rear end

I think well I know it's coming from the welds that go around the Axel tube I will try the RTV sealer,Do they make a dye that wouldn't harm anything Then I could pin point it Thanks Steve
