Part no. for crush sleeve?

I know the pinion seal no. is Timken #2043, but what is the crush sleeve part no.?

My pinion seal is leaking, and the tech needs to come out and fix. I want to have some extra crush sleeves just in case.

Just go to any GM dealer and get one for any 10 bolt 1996 GM chevy truck 10 bolt 8.5 rear.

As long as you do not change the pinion shims or bearings, the crush sleeve "can" be reused because you are not changing the distance between the crush sleeve shoulder, and the front pinion bearing.

Yes, but what if you simply zip off the large yoke nut and not count the turns, etc.? Would you not need to do it all over again? ie. new crush sleeve

Dorman may be easier to get at your local parts store

You're making it more difficult than what it is.No need to count revolutions. When you reinstall the nut,you will feel it,when you get to the crush sleeve,as it will give a bunch of resistance. Then check for preload once you get there. If you start with a new crush sleeve, then it's a different story.

If you are going to get new ones try 1 0f 3 PartSource in Hamilton with that part #. They shouldn't be any more than $4.50 each. They can order them in from Uni. They have 2 available.
