Car currently has 3.90 gears and want to swap for something more drivable. I wanted 3.23 but from what I have read the tallest gear for this rear would be 3.36, but 3.36 was not an offered ratio for the 65 442 (4.33, 4.11, 3.90, 3.55, 3.23, 3.08, 2.78). And if I wanted 3.23, what else would need to be swapped? What are my option here? Any help would be appreciated.

You will need to change the carrier to use a 3.23 gear set. You can use a 3.36 gear set on the 3.90 carrier. The 3.36 gear set is a Pontiac gear but will work fine on your carrier. I have a ser of 3.23 gears if you need them.
