Depends on which axle was in the Buick and what is in the Olds. The 67Olds is likely a Type O. The odds are high that the axle in the Buick is not. Also, WHICH Buick? A-body or full size? The latter definitely won't work.

3 of my 67 442's, 4spd cars had the Pontiac 10 bolt cover 8.2 posi rears that were original to my car. These 8.2 Posi rears were also used in the A body Buick. You need to check

Hi,

A 8.2 BOP-Buick and Pontiac were internally the same as far as gears and carriers until 67, Buick came out with a redesigned unique to Buick only from 68-70, around 68 Pontiac went to larger ring gear bolts and a largeer bearing on 1 side of the carrier. At least this is what I understand and have read.

65 gs axle (same as wagons except brakes) is unique as has larger axle bearings that you need to get nos, so you might want to put it up for sale, the ring and pinion and carrier should be fine to put in your 67 Pontiac 8.2 axle

Regards,

Did you look at the picture I posted? It takes more than just the back cover to identify the axle. And again, photos would help provide useful info instead of just guessing.

Agreed, the cover could be replaced with a different design so don't use that as an identification method.

Yes as long as you have a 10 bolt 8.2 Buick to a Pontiac 8.2 ...If you have a 12 bolt cover NO
Plus do not forget that the ring gear must match the series carrier.
