Car shaking
Hi All,When the engine was installed in my 67 400 442, I put a new center force clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and pilot bearing, My guy said the flywheel was alright now after 600 miles on engine now when I go in 1st or reverse letting the clutch the car shakes no mater how I let the clutch They our going to take the tranny m21 out next week ,He think it's the flywheel I had a centerforce in it before but not the same one, this is a Centerforce DF735552 Dual Friction Clutch Pressure Plate and Disc,I thought it would be easy to fine one if that's the problem The only one I see are 400 dollars, what do you guys think,Thanks

We need more info. By "shake" do you mean clutch chatter? I've run Centerforce clutches before and never had this problem. Check for oil or contamination on the flywheel or pressure plate. Check for a properly surfaced flywheel. Verify that the clutch plate hub didn't get bent when the trans was installed (by letting the trans hang from the input shaft). Check for a bent input shaft or bad bearing in the trans. Check for a bad or non-concentric pilot bearing. Are you using a factory MT crank, an AT crank that was drilled, or an AT crank with the aftermarket conversion bearing?

I'm mean the engine. And hood shakes when I let up on the clutch,It was fine for 600 miles Then started this Its a factory MT crank the best of my knowledge ,
I guess you could call it clutch chatter it's very aggravating When I back it out of the garage it does alright on idle then I give it more gas and starts,I hope I'm. Not hurting anything,Any thoughts
Thank Steve

Eric I Like your idea it makes sense because it was alright for 600 miles must be broken in ,we had to make a longer bolt for the clutch the old one was shorter the one that presses the fork down,I no its not a 1"off the floor, wish me luck on this one
Thanks Steve

To Clarify:
"...Verify that the clutch plate hub didn't get bent when the trans was installed (by letting the trans hang from the input shaft). "
Should read:
"...Verify that the clutch plate hub didn't get bent
(as may have happened when the trans was installed, by letting the trans hang from the input shaft). "
i.e. the original wording could be construed such that "the way to check is to hang the trans off the pressure plate," whereas that is _how they get bent_. As for how to check this bent plate issue.... Remove trans, use pilot tool in splines of disk, see if it rotates true to center?
By the time you remove the trans you might as well extract the clutch and take it to the local clutch service man.

I might have found the problem I was looking at the part number on what I got
DF735552
43001 pilot 0.72, 1.095, 061
Throw out bearing N1716
I found the pilot bearing is the wrong size it should of been a
43002 pilot 1.375, 0.59, 0.35
Not sure how that happen I ordered through Amazon all center force parts
What do you guys think I hope I didn't screw something up
