85 cutlass 7.5 rear end question

I was out messing around with my carb earlier today when I decided to give my car a test run. I burned a little rubber & I got the same thing I usually get when burning some rubber which is this...

When I did that I heard the drivers side give off a little chirp so I held my head out of the window & tried it again. This is what I got the second time.

Does this mean the rear end in my car is a posi? If so, why doesn't it kick in every other time when I'm burning rubber?

POSI BURN OUT results

Will depend on the posi unit you are using
Also how you did your burn out
finally the condition of the unit in your car.

Sometime the posi being cold and fairly worn will only let one wheel spin then when it warms the cones will swell a bit given just enough to give you posi. This will eventually go away too and you will only leave one mark and eventually weld the spiders and or totally blow them out of the case.

If you have a gov lock posi in the rear they are low speed operation and once the speed of the revolutions get too fast it will NOT lock. If you are doing a brake toque slow start burn out it may lock and will stay locked until you are finished.

Need more info to give a better evaluation of the issues at hand.

tyoe posi and condition mostly.

If you're putting out close to 300 HP, I'd be looking for a 8 1/2 from a GN or a 12 bolt!
I've seen fresh 7 1/2's puke even with the 'girdle' cover - just add some sticky tires!

My buddy's GTO did that about 10 times before it broke.

Does your vehicle have the sticker with the RPO codes on the inside of the trunk lid?
