Question 72 Cutlass S driveshaft length

Good morning all,

We are putting my car back together and somewhere over the last 8 years of restoring this car (heaven help me), we lost my OEM drive shaft. I have bought one from a good friend and believe its correct but its awfully tight going on the car...

Does anyone out there know how long the drive shaft should measure (for a 72 Cutlass S with 350 SB and TH350 automatic with air conditioning)? is this info published anywhere so we can verify I am using the correct shaft? It seems really tight going on the car...is this normal?

71- 72 use the same drive shaft for this application. Maybe someone has a 71 they could measure.

If you don't have an answer by the weekend, I can measure mine. It fits the description except the A/C.

Hey deejai35, can you go ahead and measure the driveshaft? We are getting closer to what we think we need the length to be. I would like to verify with several others before we call it done.

I measured the shaft from edge to edge, cylinder only at 52 inches.

I have one in Michigan. Center of u-joint to center of u-joint is 55 1/4". Came out of my 72 Cutlass S with turbo 350 and 10 bolt. It also has the yolk attached. A/C does not matter. Make me an offer. I am not sure of shipping and I would have to check.

thanks everyone. Let me do some more verifying what I have and get back with you if I need to consider buying one. Main concern we have is my yoke appears to go too far onto the "knub" coming out of the bellhousing and we are afraid once the car is loaded down going down the highway there is not the adequate slack needed...
