Eh? It should have an O axle in it and 3.73 gears are not made for that.

If you have room it would be easier to go with a taller tire for street cruising.

3.23 gears are not made for the 12 bolt, but you can get 3.31's instead.

Here are what you're looking at for RPM changes with a couple of different gear/tire combos:

I guess what you have to figure out is if it is worth it for a 350 RPM drop at 65 mph to swap out your gears. You're probably going to want to install new wheel bearing while you;re at it and a complete install kit that comes with carrier bearings and pinion bearings. And then if you don't do it yourself there is all the labor involved. My guess would be over $1000 when all is said and done.

Personally I'd leave it be. It's not like it's your every day driver, is it?

Yes I hear you I got 15" 70s I believe not much room back there
So a 323 gear won't fit in a 12 bolt Chevy I better let the guy no I think he already ordered them

For Chevy 12 bolts it would be 3:31 is about the closest. In addition to all the prior info which is great. Which trans do you have? If is it a M21 then it is a close ratio trans and an M20 is wide ratio. Close ratio would be a little weaker off the line with the 3:31 gear set than the wide but final drive is 1;1 in each.

Jonathon black67442 on here just did a 3:90 to 3:23 and went from an M21 to an M20 and is very happy with it.

Just some input

Who sell a new 331 gear package? To the op why not use a 308 gear set up in the 12 bolt chevy rear end!!
