1964 Cutlass with a '77-'80 engine question

I have a '77-'80 engine in the '64 Cutlass. The block number is 557752-3B. I need a new set of valve cover gaskets. The parts store showed me the set they carry and the gaskets have 10 holes. I look in OPGI and the gaskets and valve covers show 10 holes. I get online to see what I can find, and online, OPGI shows an aluminum valve cover with the word Oldsmobile on it, and it is a five hole valve cover.

And as I posted before, this is my first Olds I have ever owned in my 57 years of breathing. What is the deal, why the difference, and where does one find 5 hole valve cover gaskets?

All aftermarket Olds valve cover gaskets are ten bolts. They will work just fine on the five bolt valve covers. The covers are exactly the same, the extra five holes just aren't drilled. This saved Olds about 5 cents per car.

Actually, I think the five-bolt covers used RTV to seal from the factory, not a gasket, but the ten hole gaskets work fine.

Thank you Joe for the info. I did a search for 5 hole gaskets and was coming up with nothing at all sorts of places. Now that I know a ten holer will work, I can get my minor leak sealed up.

valve cover gaskets

I would use a bead of rtv over a gasket, the seal seams to be more consistent and last longer.imo
