1964-67 use essentially the same floorpan. The 1966-67 cars came from the factory with a Hurst shifter and that same console (yeah, the 65s also came with a Hurst shifter with the Dearborn three speed). A 66-69 factory shifter should work fine.

This is what I’m running into: It kinda fits. But I will never get the top bolt in I can’t tell if I’m out of place forward to back. Or maybe I’m too high
I don’t have the factory crossmember and it wouldn’t fit if I did have it because of all the things I’ve changed
I don’t want to but I could do a pie cut and pry it open a bit and weld in a new little section.
I don’t really have a preference with the hurst vs factory It’s just that I have the hurst and stick and new rods and all. And I have none of the factory parts
edit:: in the bottom picture it still need to rotate clockwise just a hair. Maybe it’s half a hole off but the bottom bolt is installed

I had that same top bolt problem with the shifter in my 70. Since the crossmember is out anyway, it might be easier to bolt the shifter to the plate with the trans lowered a little, then jack it up into place. Note that I said the 66-69 shifter will work with the console. That aftermarket stick won't. It's offset too far to the right. It looks like the Chevelle stick. The factory stick comes nearly straight up and the console hole is offset accordingly.
the factory 64 hump is smaller ( with the T handle factory shifter ) then the 65 -67 ( HUrst Shifter ) it was not untill 65 that the hurst shifter was installed by the factory,
hence the shift boot for the console is smaller..
you should be able to widen and weld in a 65 -67 hump in identical location so your console fits and get the 65-67 boot .
