What Header fits 1968 cutlass S

Hey again guys,

I have a 68 cutlass s convertible with 350- looking to do some headers and 2.5 exhaust with dynamax ultra flo mufflers. I was looking at Hooker style 3901 and there is a footnote that says this header will not fit cutlass supreme model.
The Hedman 58060 says it will not fit 1970-1972 supreme , hurst, sx models.

I'm sure many or you guys have done headers and was wondering what worked without and what didnt and what problems if any you ran into.

Disregard the fitment notes on models they fit. This has always been a problem as there is no difference in engine compartments. You can search old threads as its been discussed for years.

They are both decent inexpensive headers, although the Hookers may fit a bit better up top and hang lower underneath. Seems they all inherently have to be massaged to fit.

Flowtech also makes the same basic header for about half the cost of what you'd pay from Jegs or Hedman.

The issue of whether it fits Cutlass, Cutlass S or Cutlass Supreme is all hype. There is no difference in these cars from the firewall forward, which is where your headers will be located. You will likely need to make a slight adjustment for your transmission selector rod when fitting the headers.

NOTE: make sure the battery is disconnected, and it helps if the starter is out during the install. One other area you might have trouble with is clearance on the oil dip tube, so you might want to consider removing the inner wheel linings for more access and work space.

Hooker is best bang for the buck for the small block. They fit nice and tight and they are decent quality. Flowtech is cheap but there is issues with fitment, basically you get what you paid for.
I had hookers on my 350 for 7-8 years and no problems. I definetly recommend them. JMO.

I put Hedman headers on my 71 98. They fit superbly and are excellent quality. I got the ones that are thermal coated.

Of course, it's a different header than the one for the Cutlass; however, I'm very happy with their product.
