To part or not to part ????

I found a 71 "plane jane" cutlass S .
I have been looking for a few rust free parts, but never expected to find a rust free car. Now I am torn
If all works out and I can work out a deal on this car, I will be faced with this dilemma. Any feedback on this?

No way I would part out that beauty. I'd restore it. What all is it missing? Get a good price on it I imagine?

I do not have any pictures of the car yet. but yes it is complete, all original and a one owner car. she has been sitting a long time, but I am sure it will run. I am hoping for 1,000.00 or less.

Get it home first, crawl over it and then make the decision. If you can sell it for more than you can buy the parts your needing then clearly sell it as a whole. If the paint and interior are ratty plus the engine smokes then you may not be able to sell it unless you live in the rust belt.... then all bets are off on the value of a rust free car!

Well, knowing what i just paid for a nos fender I think it will be parted. I just hate to do it. Why did it have to be all good. why couldn't it have had a cracked frame or maybe no drive train, but a good body.
If "re-pops" were what they should be we would not be having this
problem.

What parts are you planning to keep? If it's a Holiday Coupe, I'd be interested in the shell from the firewall back.

So, You say part the car. Well I am in need of the right rear quarter panel and front fenders. I thought I would carefully disassemble the rest and sell part by part.

If you don't want to cut it up I've got a right rear quarter panel that decent on a car with a badly rusted roof. I'm located in Oregon. John

It's still on the car, but no bumps or bubbles under the paint. Looking inside the trunk there's surface rust in the lower rear portion but I think it could be cleaned up and treated to prevent future rust through. Let me know if you'd like to see pictures. John
