New carb for the '65
Thinking about replacing the stock carb (4GC). The issue is hard starting and stumbling and bogging when accelerating. The motor is a 330 ci. That was rebuilt a couple years back and set up with an Edelbrock performer intake, comp cam, higher compression and dual exhaust. From what I've i read sounds like the Edelbrock 600 cfm, elec choke is a good choice. What are your thoughts on this. If I do go this route do I need anything else to bolt this in that does not come With the carb? Appreciate any input!

you may need an adaptor plate. it depends how much clearance you have from the throttle linkage and intake. i made that mistake as a teenager. the secondary got caught on the egr and stuck wide open on the back roads.

I've had good luck with the E-brock on my 62. I've done nothing to it, and while not optimized, the car runs really well. You will likely need to do a little fabrication to get the throttle rod to fit.

I put a Eddie 600cfm e choke on my 330 using stock intake
I had to make my throttle rod longer I just picked up stock at the local low's and cut threads in one end to install on orig set up at fire wall ordered the mr gasket 1512

Thanks for the help, looking forward to making the swap. Looks like Jegs has the carb available for $300 and it comes with a chrome air cleaner and fender protector. Now if this snow would just go away!!

You don't need an adapter, but you might need a straight spacer. A Qjet will bolt to the E-brock intake, as will the E-brock carb. The manifold is set up for both square and spreadbore carbs.

I'm running a 600 performer on an Edel RPM manifold with great luck on a 350 (Olds) with cam and dualed. They seem to work very well out of the box from testing other applications too. 650 CFM carbs being more popular may be border line where the 600 fits well for output.
I had to use a smaller 2" high air filter to get proper hood clearance compensating for the 1/2" spacer and manifold rise.

I'll put in another plug for the Holley Street Avenger. Runs great right out of the box and very tunable. Easy install. I used a 670 cfm on the L79 327 I had in my '68 Camaro SS and it was perfect.

Well I eventually did buy the Edelbrock carb and installed it on the '65. Overall very happy with the performance. Just one issue, hot starts have been tough. I read up on it and bought the heat insulator gasket and am going to install that this week. Hopefully that will resolve the issue!
