Need your expertise?

Still new to the resto biz. And i have a questions for you guys. Is this a 72 cutlass 442 clone? or just a 72 cutlass. Check out the pics! The listing reads
1972 Oldsmobile 442 HURST W30
1972 OLDS CUTLASS CONVERTIBLE MAKE 442 CLONE #S MATCH
Can it be a 442 clone without a floor shifter?
And what is a W-30?
Finally how much would you spend for this car? Help for a starter so i dont get screwed!

The car in the photos is a Cutlass Supreme convertible. In 1972, the 442 was demoted to an option package instead of a standalone model with a unique VIN, so it is difficult to document a real 1972 442, but this isn't a 442.

The W-30 was Oldsmobile's highest performance package. In 1972, the VIN will indicate the engine, and the W-30 has a unique VIN. This car isn't a W-30.

The Old Cars Price Guide puts the value of a 1972 Cutlass Supreme convertible in #3 condition (not showroom, but a nice restoration) at $10,800. In showroom condition (#2), the value is $16,800. It's hard to tell much from your photo as only one of them opens up, and it's from a distance. But the car looks pretty good from what can be seen of it.

The listing stated it had some rust. About how much for one in the lowest condition.

In #4 condition, which is defined as good running condition but needing full restoration, the value listed is $4800. Depending on how much of the car would need work vs how much of it is already in good shape, the car is probably worth between $5000 and $10,000. If it doesn't run, the value drops to just under $3000.
