Just wanted to say hello. We inherited a 72 Cutlass Supreme Holiday Sedan and although I have been working on it for some time now I am planning on having it finished by the summer and start having some fun with it. As you all know, they can look pretty good until you take off the chrome - then the bad stuff shows up. This car has been in my wife's family since new and most recently was sitting in her brothers back yard rusting, when one day he mentioned that he wanted to get rid of it. Well my wife asked if we could have it - I gulped - and the rest is history. The car is actually pretty sound with the exception of rust hiding under the chrome and some dents and dings. The frame and undercarriage were really in good shape and the engine (350-4bbl) and drive train are strong. Well I have almost got the body work done and will start doing the final prime, sanding and paint. Now I'm getting ready to order a bunch of parts to get it all back together and looking good again.
That's where this great site has come in - looking at who is doing what and getting a source for hard to find items and just sharing an interest. Well don't want to bore you with details - looking forward to a continuing dialog.

Welcome to the site! A four door hardtop, not enough of those have been saved from the crusher! How's your interior? Many years ago I picked up a set of doors from a 1970 Cutlass 4 door hardtop. I was focused on the power window/door lock units for my 1971 wagon project. But they had pretty nice door panels, gold cloth. If that's something you could use I can post pictures for you. John

Had to do a double take at your Avatar....looked at first glance like an Aussie Holden of the mid 70s. They actually used to assemble Olds down here until around 1951 when they started making Holdens and there are a lot of similarities.

 

The fun part of this project is knowing the complete history of this car. When I took it over I got a running account of how all the dents and a large hole got put in her. Well all the dents and the hole are gone now and I have just the rust on the windshield cowl to fix. I do need a steering wheel as mine is badly cracked and I need the chrome trim around the right rear wheel well - that's where grandma hit the mail box!! The interior has been redone do to a bad episode with a hurt dog - do ya'll remember all the car seats being covered with Fingerhut plastic? Well grandpa had just taken it off because it was getting discolored when our dog got hit by a car and she bleed all over on the back seat on the way to the vet. She made it - the seat didn't. A real shame because that pretty gold bead fabric really fit this car. The door panels are still original.

Welcome from thawing out Big D! I am really getting "coopitis" from not being able to play w/the Oldsmobile's. Drove the Custom Cruiser to our monthly meeting yesterday in Plano (i.e. "Southern Oklahoma", if you live in East Dallas by the Lake). She enjoyed getting on the road for a bit.

Nice to see another Cutlass 4dr - there just are not that many around and we need more!
Looks like yours is in pretty good shape, just the rust in the usual places. There are known threads on here about repairing the under-windscreen rust.
Legendary should have all the interior stuff you need.
Looks like a very doable project!
