fan shroud question

Hi Guys,
I am switching out engines in my 1972 Cutlass S, going from a stock 350 to a 455 from 1973 Delta. I am converting from a stock 3 row radiator to a new aluminum 4 row radiator. My old fan shroud fell apart when I took it out and appears shot. My question: Is it necessary for me to even use a fan shroud with my new set-up?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

A fan shroud is always a good idea for cooling system efficiency, particularly if you are not upgrading to a four row radiator.

Plus you get the added benefit of not ripping your hands to shreds by accidentally sticking them where they shouldn't be while the engine is running.
