I inquired as to any documentation the seller might have confirming this to be a true SX

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

this is the response I got

THE 455'S IN OLDS ''A'' BODIES ONLY CAME IN 442'S AND 'SX'S

I might pay double if the seller is from Botswana.

I'm not a stickler about W30 stripes on non w30 cars - I think they look good on most any 70 - 72 but I have never seen them on a convertible with the side trim still on - that looks awful in my opinion - and is it me or aree the fenders wavy

She looks pretty rough for being 90% done? I don't know too much about the Olds SX, but I did notice on the inside of the door was the C/S logo, as well as on the glove box. Does that mean anything? It goes without saying you should never buy a car unless you can touch it, taste it, and drive it..

So, just out of curiosity, what part of "W-30 stripes" and wing on a Supreme convertible are "restored"?

The one side trim piece looks pretty crooked and that paint doesn't look very new. There also is no pictures of the other side of the car or even the under body, trunk, and under the hood. I would run away from it.

Smile Base model

I believe the SX is built using a Supreme as the base and adding the insignia and 442 stuff...

I'm sure his math lacks the same accuracy as the rest of his information.
Some people just don't care if they show off their ignorance.
I just sent him some questions too. Not that I want the answers, I just consider making claims like that to be an invitation for questions.

I've found that to be a waste of time, frankly. Most sellers like this really don't give a rip.

Of course that is a waste of time. But they deserve to be harassed with questions.

with the correct donor car, any 70 or 71 Supreme can become a cloned SX. there are no "numbers" unique to the SX, only the ones on the genuine paper work. even the extra fender braces can be easily fabricated.

who in their right mind would spend that kind of money for a car in that condition on just his word? but then again, it only takes one!

when I responded "I guess that's a NO" he replied like a true jackass that I won't repeat.

This guy has gotten his mitts on a lot of 70-72 ragtops in the L.A. area over the past decade or so. If I'm not mistaken, this is likely the same car that was a light (Azure) blue that looked equally crappy for several years. It was also on Ebay many many times with no takers. I'm guessing he went for resale red for, well, better resale.

Wow, nothing like having an aggressive attitude when you're trying to sell a classic car! That type of response tells me that the guy has tried many, many times to sell this car, and his short temper is now the result of buyers being disappointed once they see it in person.

As much as an SX fan that I am, this car is ugly. Like a lady putting on too much makeup. I've seen this car for the last couple of months, WAY overpriced in my opinion. I remember that azure blue one from a couple of years ago. Funny how there are no pictures of the engine. It's amazing how many people claim a motor to be a 455 when there is more gold showing than in King Tut's tomb. ( I know colors can be changed, but why?) If he wants to sell this car at this price, he will probably have to come up with the original invoice to prove the numbers. Hope it ends up in better hands. Chumley

I know my SX is a hardtop and is in primer but mine is documented and a much better car than this one and I can't even sell mine for $4500. This guy is probably just a flipper and doesn't have a clue. The 6" 68-69 wheels look like crap and so do the chrome mirrors instead of sport mirrors like it should have. I know there are other thing wrong but these were sticking out immediately when I saw the pic of it!
