96(I know!) Cutlass Ciera TCC
Hello,
Used to be active on the forum when I owned an '83 Olds Custom Cruiser. Well I'm back in an Olds (finally), but it's a newer one. Anyhow, I'm hoping someone here might be able to help.
I've got a 96 Cutlass Ciera with a 3.1 V6 and a 4-speed automatic OD trans. I ran the codes, and it's pulling that there is a problem with the TCC....So, that translates to a problem with the solenoid, or a problem with the wiring. It engages hard into second, seeming as if it is shifting too hard. If I get up off a light somewhat fast, and slightly let off the gas between 1st and 2nd, I can get the car to shift great. Or if I start off slow (hardly on the gas anyhow), it shifts great.
Can anyone tell me their experience with this issue? I've had the car for a few thousand miles, and it just started this 500 miles ago. Is the solenoid internal or external? Is this common? Could a trans flush free up the solenoid?
