Thanks for the compliments..I was hesitant to give up the Salon Hubcaps, as they're not seen much.
But I do have to admit the Rallys do get more attention.
77 cutlass s. 350 with ac and tilt wheel. Bought it 2 months ago drove it over 100 miles home and have been driving it daily since. Plan is to build the 455 I got back from the machine shop today and drop er in.
Y 76 regional special edition car. Your car has the half vinyl top with smaller quarter windows, argent painted wheels and the chrome sport mirrors, indicators it is a y76. Cool car and fairly rare.
Here's a link explaining a little about it. https://y76cutlass.com/y76
I had a link to another page that better explains all the Y76 equipment but can't find it anymore. I think it disappeared with the 73-77olds.com site. RIP

Well, i assure that youre welcome. Atleast on this topic
Wow, am i sick or what, but first thing i noticed on that 56 Vette is towing hitch Thats cool!----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
.
I have not posted for a long time, and I may not again.
But I have noticed (or not noticed) something that I thought I would comment on. The last year for TRUE dual exhaust on a 73-77 Cutlass was 1974. The 75-77 transmission cross member was NOT made for dual exhaust and the right side of the cross member had a big "dog leg" to clear the catalytic converter. Even though dual exhaust was not common on the 73-74 models------------------THE TRANSMISSION CROSS MEMBER ON 73-74 MODELS HAD 2 HUMPS TO CLEAR BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT PIPES.
For the owner of 75-77 Cutlass that would like to have a FACTORY STYLE dual exhaust system, then a 73-74 cross member is a 100% pure bolt-on fit for a 75-77 Cutlass.
Once state inspections were no longer required ---------------------THANK YOU FORMER GOV FRANK KEATING----------------- in Okla, I rounded up a 74 cross member in a salvage yard, PLUS a true dual exhaust RIGHT side exhaust manifold (for those who may not know, RIGHT side single and dual manifolds are totally different), and had my favorite muffler guy fabricate a "factory style" dual exhaust system. Looks as if it was installed at a GM assembly plant!!!
When I rebuild the 455 a few years ago, I installed reproduction W30 style W and Z manifolds.
Hey Tom I'm surprised you stopped in again.(or that anyone does) It's been 5 years or so. I haven't been here in a while myself. I'm glad you found out about the 74 crossmembers. The 73-74 GM A bodies have the dual exhaust crossmembers and back when our cars were more plentiful in the wrecking yards I would always pull one if I came across it. I just thought it was common knowledge about them being a good factory backdated upgrade. I looked back through this thread and in 2016, 8 years ago it was talked about. Just reminds me its not always commonly known, even if I think it is and who is going to look back at this long thread (besides me) to see an 8 year old discussion about it. Thanks for the reminder, your exhaust system looks nice. If you do come back, do you have a picture of the tips where it exits under the back bumper? Thanks
Those straps tie the trailer hitch, where it is attached to the bumper, to the frame rails. My thinking was to transmit some of the pulling effort from the bumper to the frame. So far, no problems.
74.. added the SSIIIs and sport mirrors last year- she came with salon hubcaps and one chrome mirror..I'd added the pass side mirror in the 90's sometime..
77 Salon, built in Lansing with the Hurst T-Tops, just about all options except pulse wipers (not available at assembly time). Purchased new June 6, 1977
I've got a 76 442 with the Hurst hatches. Welcome to Classic Olds. Where in Texas are you located? I'm in Dallas. Share some pictures of your car. I'd love to see it. Original owner 77s have got to be rare.

Glad to see some activity; It’s been awhile. I’m in TX too! These are some really great cars!
welcome aboard! not usually a lot of 73-77 specific info here on a regular basis, but a lot of us watching and willing to share, and the regulars are learning more about our cars all the time
Hey Bill, really enjoyed the article you wrote about your car in the December issue of "Journey with Olds" Nice pictures too.
First new car, Where in Texas are you located?
Hey, I wish I knew. One day I find myself in the mid-cities and next thing I know I’m out north of Weatherford. Hope that gets resolved this year and I get to get back to that first new car! It’s her 50th birthday coming up and she deserves a facelift.
texxas- Thanks for the kind words.. I was hoping to get a little more detailed as to the 'new' things added in '74, but life ended up having me kinda throw the article together last minute. I have some pics around here somewhere of the trunk prep, front end detail etc, prior to the 455 install but couldn't locate them in time..
Also was thinking of pics of the 5 ash trays..
Glad you enjoyed it... I'm always willing to share what little knowledge I have on Oldsmobile..
Zodiac blue 73 442, very nice. Do you have anymore pictures? Can you please tell us a little about it? Options, engine size, auto or 4 speed?

Aaron, beautiful car. I see it has the factory gauge including the rarely seen fasten seat belt light, assuming you didn't add all that.
I'm curious if the 74 rally pac has the white outline like the the speedometer or if it's the later style? I haven't seen a true rally pac 74 in the wild. I'm pretty sure the 74 has the three small gauges and lacks the "Unleaded Fuel Only" wording.

I finally got my 1973 442 the way I want it. It had 18” wheels with drop spindles and lower rear springs when I purchased it earlier this year. The ride was a little more rough than I like. I’m happy with the look now and it drives much better at stock height and with the 15” wheels.
