71 Cutlass

Hey folks, im new here, thought I would drop in to say hey =D In a couple of days I might be the proud owner of a 71 cutlass. The only thing it needs is a power steering pump alignment and tuneup. Could any of you direct me to a website that I can get parts easily on? I dont even know where to start looking lol. Thanks!

Welcome to CO. We hope to be hearing from you soon "I got myself a Cutlass!". I think you could still get a power steering pump at the local parts store, tune up stuff for sure. For more specialized stuff there is always Fusick and Kanter although they kind of cater to the older cars. And I think Year One provides some A body stuff for your Cutlass.

Awesome, thanks Oldsguy. Thursday im going to take a look at it. If the frame is in good shape, and I dont have to do a full restoration of everything then I will buy it. Ive always wanted a 455, and I promised my dad a Cutlass for his 65th birthday. Too bad he has 20 years to go, so I have time to enjoy it

NAPA may have that pump in stock or be able to have it the same day or the next.
If your looking for a good online place for mechanical parts try http://rockauto.com they have a lot of parts for older cars and are recommended here a lot, I use them all the time. They're often cheaper with shipping than the local parts stores and they carry the top brands.

Smile Good luck

Well I am pulling for you , not just because we need more canuks here but cause you will not regret the 455 Cutlass. even if you have to put a little work and money into it you will still enjoy it cause that is really part of the enjoyment of owning these old cars. fixing it up your own style if it is as original as it can be or something more sporty and updated it's your choice. Good luck.

Well things didnt work out with they bank, I started my new job 2 months ago, and they need you to have worked a job 3 months before they will renegotiate your loan. Which makes no sense to me, because I make the payments on it every month anyways, so it shouldnt be a big deal to add to the loan a little... stupid banks. Anyways, thanks for the support and info guys, but im gonna delete myself from the site, until I get myself a cutlass down the road. (Its always been my dream car) Take care folks.

Thanks! Apparently the guy that owned the car before the guy I bought it from put 72 grilles on it, because on the top corners, its been cut for fitment. It looks brutal and I really have to find a set that match it right. He also took out the original seats and put in racing seats, which is also hideous I have alot of work ahead of me lol.

Hi there, I'm a canuk my self from Quebec, but lived in the states all my life. About your power stering pump, I would try a junk yard that handles that old of a car or buy a parts car. Francois

Welcome Aboard,Nice Looking Cutlass. I to have a 1971.
There are many auto wreckers in your area.Look for the forgotten ones on the back roads. There are still a few of these cars in the older yards. Good luck in your parts search. There is a couple of guys in the Hamilton area that have alot of parts if you want their phone numbers PM me.
