68-72 A body Jack Question
I am pretty sure the 70-72s are the same physically.
Not sure about earlier. And some cars seemed to come with the solid "T" post type jacks while others had the tubular style shaft. I think by '71, if not by 1970, they all had the tube style shafts.

The '74 parts book reads Jack, auto /less load rest base PN230769 1968-72 all except wagons ...
PN230662 1968-72 all wagons: My '68 came with a Y post jack
Under jack base they list PN39068 1967-68 all US w/1.160 square mast & '69 except wagons. 1970 all with square mast...PN 230775 1968-70 all except wagons AY type: PN3995122 1971-72all-for V shaped shaft w/universal column...so your car could have come with a variety of jacks depending on the jack supplier...

Not really knowing one from another I'd need a degree to decify all that. Basically I have a 70 jack and am wondering if it will work on the 68 vert I bought that didn't come with a jack. I guess I need to get the part numbers off of it and try and decipher things.I have a parts book on CD but couldn't find the jack....what group is it in.
The jacks are in group 8.820... and speaking of jacks, as Mugzilla says, I too use a hydraulic jack for my '57 and those eighties GM jacks that lift the frame near the wheels for the Cutlass dept....the bumper jack is only for show...

I got a flat on the Ohio Turnpike coming home from Homecoming in 1998 and had to use the original jack to change the tire (fortunately it wasn't still the original spare tire). What a scary, shaky operation! Bumper jacks are for show only!
My 1969 442 jack says 68-69 on it. I can't remember if it says A-body or Cutlass on it. I will try to look at it when i get home.
edit: I think it says F85 on it.

The 1970 cutlass jack set up will work on your 1968 Cutlass. The lift or hook part should have the number 406925 stamped on it if it came out of a 1970 Cutlass or 442. As stated above, if you actually use it, expect the bumper fillers to be pushed into the front fenders and possibly chip your paint.
