67 cutlass engine id.

I have a 67 cutlass s and I want to make sure it has the 330 v-8 it's suppose to have. The right head id boss has been milled smooth but there are 2 charactors stamped on it-the numbrer one then a dash. The numbers on the timing chain housing are 3944173. Are there other way I can verify the engine?

Sometimes the engine sequence number will be on the driver's side head pad, which faces the firewall.

Not a positive ID but the 67 330 heads should have a number 4 cast just to the left of number 1 spark plug hole.

+1 on Run's comment - when people take the heads off, they don't care which side they put them back on.

Thanks so much you guys. My heads apparently were removed and switched so the #'s were aginst the fire wall. I learned I have the proper engine and the heads were removed sometime in last 46 years. I am grateful
