455 swap 72 cutlass s

I thought i saw a write up someone did on doing a 455 swap on here and I cant seem to find it now, I'm planning on putting a 68 455 from a toronado in my 72 cutlass s and was looking to see what I all need before I jump into the project. Any tips anyone?

Use all the fan belt drives, pulleys and brackets from the Cutlass engine. Invest in big block exhaust manifolds for an A body car, head pipes to match. Use the 350 motor mounts both sides (frame & block mounts). The Toro intake sits lower but flows good. Use the Toro carb and distributor. Upgrade to a TH400 trans. Use the Toro high torque starter(if it bolts up?...if not get an OEM High torque or after market mini). Find a good OEM 3 or 4 core radiator, modify the core support and top plate as needed. Use a clutch fan. Verify that fuel lines are the same size a the Toros. If not upgrade.

Just out of curiosity, would the small block manifolds work for a short time until I got decent big block manifolds? Im.just curious because i see headers that said 350-455 on ebay, and then seen some forums that say headers wont fit a 455 ina 72. For the summer I would be happy to get the big block in and driving, performance exhaust isn't a first priority

I've heard conflicting things on this. Some say they will physically bolt up where others say they won't. The correct manifolds aren't that expensive if it can be worked into the budget and you won't need a block off plate.

If I remember correctly, you will need the 350 oil filter housing due to the angle.

You need 400/455 exhaust manifolds. Same goes for headers. And NO there is no such thing as an offset engine in the Supremes.

The SBO manifolds physically bolt up (all 1964-1990 Olds heads have the same exhaust flange pattern). The problem is that the outlets will be in a different place from the original 350, so you'll need new pipes. Once you get the correct BBO manifolds, you'll again need new pipes.

Any RWD oil filter adapter will work, including the one on the original 350. The FWD oil filter adapter is angled to clear the transaxle.

Also, while shaped differently, the Toro oil pan will clear the A-body frame with no problems.
