1971 paint code 62 bittersweet

My 71 cutlass convertible is paint code 62 bittersweet with A white convertible top, one of the previous owners painted it black, I have looked on google image for cars painted in the original color but there seem to be a lot of different cars that people say are bittersweet, some really light and some really dark, what one is the true color? considering painting back to original color.

My car is Bittersweet. Exterior has been resprayed once but is a perfect match to the rest of the original paint. 1971 Cutlass S

My '71 SX is also 62 Bittersweet. Never looks the same in every picture...some photos look really orange and others look more brown. Depends on the light, I guess. My paint looks very similar to VI Cutty's. Must be the Canadian light!! Our cars look like they could be twins...

Other GM brands used this color too - look at Canyon Copper Pontiacs for more pics.

I think it's a reasonably popular color, but its popularity may be based on brand - I know Pontiac people love it, but not sure how Olds people feel. It's a nice compromise between Earthtone and not being ugly, IMHO.

Our '71 that we just started restoring is currently white and gold as somebody tried to do a replica of a Hurst. However it is going back to the original bittersweet color. It is a great color I think. Our hardtop came with a black vinyl top and black stripes. It is a 442. I love period colors as you usually see black, red, white, etc.

Good friend in original owner of 71 442 bittersweet 4 speed. I found him 71 bittersweet flat top wagon last spring. We know where there is a 71 442 conv't that's bittersweet and needs finished. Love the color.

Check out this months MCR, as it has a Bittersweet 71 442 W30 on the cover and an article inside. I have attached a picture of the same car from the 2010 Nationals in Sturbridge, Ma. Bittersweet and Sienna which I have on my 71 SX are one year only colors and are so representative of the era, along with certain greens and Saturn Gold.
