I have been considering making my Cutlass Supreme into a SX clone due to the fact it does not have and original engine and i have not been able to find a 71 350 olds engine and I have two 71 455 engines, I will need the bumper with the exhaust cutouts, who makes the best reproductions? or where do i find an original that maybe needs rechromed?

I notice that they offer two different bumpers, my cutlass has the bumper protectors so i will probably look at ordering the one with the bumper protector holes. did any 71 cutlass come with the 12 bolt rear axle or where they all the 10 bolt axle?

 

1970 was the last year for the O-Type 12 bolt rear. In '71 the corporate 8.5" 10 bolt rear was used.

 

If i am correct the 71 supreme was only avaliable with the 350 2V or 4V unless you ordered the SX package with the 455?

 

Here's an idea: Why not just build a car to suit your tastes without adding that SX badge?

A hot CS doesn't need the SX badge to be interesting.

 

I might just do that, I'll just have to wait and see, I need to get the 455 put in the car first then I need to get some body and paint done. probably most of the car shows that I go to people probably don't realize that the non SX cutlass supreme didn't come with a 455 anyway they will just think it's cool!!!
