I need to replace the starter in my 1970 Cutlass Supreme with 350V8 and 4bbl soon. Suppliers are listing two replacements, on with a spacer and one without. Which is the correct one? Thanks for your help.

I would opt for the ac delco unit if it were me

 

If I remember correctly , the starter with the 1" spacer is the high torque version.

 

Rock Auto lists REMY #25253 and #25275 as replacements. The #25253 has a copper spacer.

 

Rock Auto is only showing two REMY starters now on their website.

 

might depend on what you hit for a car i used a 1970 cutlass, but they may list different for a supreme or delta i also saw they had a 442 listing w a 350(for 1970) . AFAIK the starter is the same for all 350s except maybe the toro !!

anyway i dont know what the spacer is but i would double check the selection by going to another site like auto zone or advanceauto etc...

IDK what remy is but i still lean toward the delco part.

Either one will work on a 350 motor. The one with the spacer is a high torque version.

 

Go with the high torque version.

It gives you a little more capacity to start the car.
