Hello from Olds64
Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been on the website recently.
As many of you know, I recently returned from a 13 month deployment in Afghanistan. Most of you probably don't know (unless my father Oldsguy mentioned it), in June I was in the hospital for a week. I was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary emboli (multiple blood clots in each lung).
Thankfully, I'm on the mend. However, I won't be doing much automotive work in the future. I recently changed the oil in my Olds and it kicked my butt!
So, I'm selling my 1971 Olds 98 and all of my Olds stuff. I posted a new thread in the for sale section.
Once I sell the Olds hopefully I can find a daily driver that gets more than 10mpg. Of course, I hope it ends up being an Oldsmobile (maybe an LSS or Regency).
I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Good luck on the sale of your 98. It's unfortunate that the blood clots are slowing you down like that. Just curious, but did the blood clots have anything to do with whatever you were exposed to during your deployment? 13 months in Afghanistan certainly doesn't sound a whole lot like a cake walk! And I've heard that soldiers and sailors and marines are being exposed to things that are causing strange reactions (perhaps like the blood clots in your lungs).
Thank you for your service. Too many people don't know what it is like to be gone for so long, and in a place that isn't that hospitable!
Best Regards,
Randy C.

I asked the doctor if the blood clots could be tied to my cigar smoking. She mentioned it isn't good to smoke; however, blood clots in the lungs apparently aren't caused by respiratory trauma. FWIW, I'm not smoking anymore. Definitely a good way to quit; however, I wouldn't suggest to anyone that they get pulmonary emboli.
Is there a chance that they can dissolve the clots?
I'll keep you guys posted.
Get well soon Jesse! Maybe someday life will take another turn and you'll be able to get an Oldsmobile again
None of us know the future and when life throws us a curve ball we've got to roll with it and make the best choices we can to deal with it.

Sorry to here about your health issues Jesse. I hope everything turns out ok.
I still think about our lunch in Tacoma from time to time. Regardless of what kind of daily driver your get I hope you continue to stay on this site.
