No spark Poulan weed wacker.

Weed wacker worked great last time used. about 2 weeks ago. A storm blew the cover off and it did get wet, but I can't see how that would matter. Gets gas and air, but no spark. Tried new plug and still no spark. Is anyone versed in these? Is there a common problem like plug wire, kill switch or wiring for the switch, or module going suddenly bad sitting? I guess I will take it apart and start making some wiring tests. If nothing shows I guess module or gap would be next. If anyone knows of a common problem please let me know. Thanks.

Just a thought - I had this happen to my old weed whacker. The amount of time and effort you are going to put into fixing it may be better spent just buying a new one. These things aren't terribly expensive and are relatively disposable.

If you're just getting a popping sound? One of your valves might be rusted open from the water. If you get that far, take off the head and check. Lap the valve and re-assemble. If you have to replace the module? Seriously think about a new unit. My old one was Husqvarna. My new one is a Ryobi. I put the life expectancy of my weed machines at around 5 years. After that I expect to replace even though I typically don't run it wide open except for those heavy areas that need it.

Good luck with solving the problem, don't know if if ^^^ was a help or not.

EDIT: I store my unit in the shed and it doesn't get wet. Just freezes it's butt off in the winter

Thanks any help is always appreciated. Fixed and good to go. Easy one. Bad connection at plug wire and plug connector. Got some cutting done already. When I bought 2 1/2 years ago this one I used it once in the fall and next spring it would not start. Carb trouble and I did all the stated procedures by the book for end of year. Fortunatley it was under warranty and they replaced the carb. Darn garbage gas. I thought they would just fix it, but they replaced the carb. No trouble since and I don't follow the storage procedures any more.

Glad you found the problem and it's good to go! Funny thing? I bought a new Craftsman 21" lawnmower a year and a half ago. Got it home and put it together. Started fine! Next week it wouldn't start for love of trying, so I called Sears. They said to change the spark plug yada yada yada. On a new lawnmower that had less than 2 minutes on it??? Fresh (91octane) gas, new oil, this thing should start. So finally in desperation I did what Sears wanted me to do. I went and got my spark plug sockets and came back to the mower. Duhhhhh....the plug cap had come off. Crimped it a bit to hold the tip of the plug and it started right away. So I can relate to your issue really well. Now the dang thing's auto choke is buggered up. Fortunately it's still under warranty. Chugs like an old Case tractor till the choke releases..... Buying tip for lawnmowers? DON'T buy Kohler - it's a cheap Chinesium knock off of the Honda! When it runs, it's ok. But the trick is getting it to run...

Cheers! Now get back to work......
