Fargo/movie

Fargo was on last night, not a terrible interesting movie but, it was nice to see Oldsmobile in the showroom again. I believe from watching that the time frame was 1987 showing a Cutlass Supreme with the euro header. Also one scene in the background on the window "87".
Dealership name in movie was Gustafson Oldsmobile, was filmed at a real Olds dealership Wally Mc Carthy Olds in Richfield MN
Film was released in 1996!

"..not a terrible interesting movie.."

For me, that movie was far more interesting than the fact that it had an Olds dealership in it, especially one from the late '80s, but again that's just me.

My thought, also. The movie was nominated for seven academy awards and won two. Frances McDormand was outstanding, and William H. Macy as the sleazy Oldsmobile salesman hiring someone to kidnap his wife was excellent as well. I also liked how it takes place in the dead of a North Dakota winter. Leaving aside the plot, you get cold just watching the movie.

Getting back to the topic, I did like the Oldsmobile connection, too. I'm sure Oldsmobile gave their permission to allow the brand to be used so prominently, and I often wondered why they did that given dead people in trunks and the association with a sleazy salesman faking his sales records and pressuring customers to take the undercoating. But, as they say, any publicity is good publicity!

For whatever reason I didn't really love that movie. I liked it but I wouldn't say it was a favorite of mine.

A movie I saw recently that was about a stuntdriver/getaway driver is one of my new favorites. The movie is called "Drive" and you guys need to see that movie. Their aren't any Oldsmobiles in it but he does drive a beat up Chevelle(I didn't hold it against him lol)

I dunno, man. Hard not to like a flick with the line, "Is that your friend there in the chipper?"

And that Steve Buscemi character WAS kinda funny looking!
