Ste. Genevieve, MO Gearheadz Car Show 2025 Post #1

Hi guys,

I went to a great Car Show today in Ste. Genevieve, MO about 40-miles South of me. It was held on the grounds of the local Knights of Columbus Hall. The Show was put on by the local Gearheadz Car Club in conjunction with the town's annual Founder's Day Festival. Ste. Genevieve is known as being the oldest permanent settlement west of the Mississippi.

The Show was a Top 50 format with all years/makes/models of cars and trucks judged together. The MC said there were 217 judged entries. I felt very fortunate to make the Top 50. There will be 3 Posts of pics, so please hold off on your comments until I get the 3rd Post in please.

Looks like a nice show, Chris. I'd say my favorite was the Coral 57 Chevy. Why are you using pancakes to hold down your storyboard?

Thanks Mike, I appreciate you checking out the pics. Nice choice on the Coral '57, that color really caught my eye too. My favorite was the Callenger R/T 340 with a Six Pack. LoL on the pancakes. Those are actually leather bags filled with lead shot. The framed article sits a little precariously on that top plate and there's no way I want it tumbling off onto my chrome bumber.

Very nice pics Chris. It appears that the patina look on old pick up trucks is a national thing.

Thanks Dan! Yes, that patina look has really gotten popular around here. I actually liked the look on a couple of the ones I took pictures of. Most of the time I can take or leave it.

I like the 70 Monte Carlo. Similar to mine.

Patina, to me, is a nice way of saying worn paint. That's ok, not everything has to look new. There's a well worn look, called "honest wear" to things like guns that make them look used and old, but not abused. Abuse looks damaged. What I don't like is when people clearcoat over the rust. They should have just fixed it. A buddy has a 69 H/O with a custom paint job from its drag racing days. He left it as it, but the chassis, engine bay, and interior are flawlessly restored. I like it a lot because it looks old and authentic, but is nice underneath.

Yes, I liked the Monte too, that's why I took the pic. I liked it because I don't see too many of them and it is a nice car.

Sounds like a nice set-up how your friend left the drag racing nostalgia of the '69 H/O on the exterior but restored the rest. Sounds like a really neat car, I'd like to see a picture of that, do you have one?
