Question Am I just "THICK"?

I hope this hasn't been discussed in a previous thread cause I'll really feel ignorant buuuut...here we go!

Now keep in mind I am of PA Dutch decent, and we have been known to be "dumb dutchies", but I don't get the symbolism of those damn clawfoot bathtubs out in the middle of a field, meadow, mountain side (you've seen them) in those friggin' ED medication commercials on TV.

Sorry, but I keep thinking if those guys need to drag a cast iron tub(letalone two of them) out in the middle of "god knows where" to get their significant other in the mood, that "might" be a very good reason for needing some help.

Before any of the gracious members here take offense to my question, please remember my heritage. I understand the market for these medications and I feel for anyone that requires the use of them.

I just DON'T GET THE TUBS!

Hell, I'd rather push my '72 S out in the back yard and pop the trunk!!! It'd be alot easier and there'd be more room. Probably should remove the spare and jack for comfort but you get the idea.

Please, if anybody understands the reference behind those tubs, please clue me in!!!

tubs

Maybe after they were done filming the commercial they filled them with water so the farm animals wouldn't have to go back to the barn to get something to drink. Just my thoughts

It has nothing to do with your heritage, I agree, it is a dumb ad. Besides, if I pulled a heavy clawfoot tub out in the middle of a field I would be too dam tired to be in the mood!

They aren't selling to you, or to men in particular. They really aren't even trying to appeal to you either. The commercial seems masculine enough so that you won't change the channel when it is on, but . . .

they are selling a little romantic notion (relaxing bath in a beautiful setting) to women who will then convince the men in their lives to go get things taken care of.

A very old and very effective advertising trick. Roughly 75% of healthcare decisions in this country are made by women. If it was your ad budget, who would you be marketing to?

I strongly oppose all these commercials as they are cutting in to my relationships with married frustrated women. Although there are still a few god bless them men who refuse to get hard on there women.

And I love that dirty water, oh, South Boston, you're my home...

Hey, that's the way we sang it growing up in South Boston Vajenya, on the banks of the River Dan.

...a real charge

What you probably didn't notice was the electric car buffer [from their other ad] and the hidden cord. You get things worked up to a fever pitch, drop that thing into the tub, and VOILA!...viva Viagra!!

BINGO! Besides, those tubs were placed there by laborers for the shoot. I would not doubt though, that there are tubs out in some green pasture someplace on the property of an exclusive bed n breakfast located in Colorado or the great northwest and they were also placed there by laborers.

So what you're saying is that the majority of America's women would not be interested in a commercial that would include such things as say...a mid 70's custom van (with bed) out under the sunset (case of beer or wine pictured) and a warm campfire burning?

Now I understand why my wife doesn't get turned on when I ask her to "come out to the garage for a few minutes". There's no romance or ambiance.

So, maybe, if I make the garage big enough to include a huge glass roof, place two tubs under the late evening sky, and clear everything else out...that would be romantic to her???

Boy, for all that work, I'd rather just buy another car (classic Olds of course) and definately be personally satisfied.

She'll understand and be over it eventually.......right? And this is what she wanted me to do in the first place to be happy?

See, I told you I was alittle "thick". She wanted me to buy another car all this time and I was too "dumb" to realize it!! What a women!!!

Thanks for the help guys.

Well actually, I do have a tub in my pasture [Not the middle but up against a fence and not claw footed] It makes a rust proof watering trough for my cows. AND nobbody is going to steal a cast iron tub.

If you hook up a hose and put a comode float into the overflow drain [with the ball sticking out into the trough] you can make a rig that automaticly adds water. When the water level drops down the float activates the water turn on just like a comode.

Ok, I don't want to hear in comments about the red neck two man saw.

Of all my trips to the NW and everywhere else, I only remember seeing tubs in fields in Sweden, and they were filled with snow.
When I go to Oregon and CA again this fall, I will be on the lookout for some and will get pics if I find one.
I know one ex GF who would be bored by the whole tub-in-the-field setting - she had no romantic cell in her body...
I did have one who was turned on by the back seat of the '86 though...

Now I'm really confused

Jamesbo

So you think my wife really wants me to get her a two man saw and a tub with a commode pump

Wow, I didn't have this hard a time figuring out what she wanted 25 years ago

We did both grow up in farm country. Maybe she has some underlying issues we need to discuss

Cameo White is right! By the way, dragging those tubs out there like that, I would have "dropped my nuts"......I don't think I'd be worrying about ED after that! Too much pain for sex!

Don't count on it. They're very attractive to the McMansion set. I know of three people just here at work who hit every architectural salvage and antique shop within 200 miles looking for them. One said he was getting one, and the rest followed...

I'm gonna set two tubs in the front yard. Now I just need the two man saw, hose and pump, and an 86' Olds...oh yeah, and a high speed buffer (almost forgot that). Do I need to bring cows or not???

I think I should make the local news in no time at all. Watch your televisions gentlemen
