The sexist aspect of it wouldn't fly today. The key lock was so that the "little lady" would not be able to use it. Cool stuff, thanks for posting!

When these were offered by Hurst they also included detailed instructions for modifying the transmission to survive manual shifting, I wonder if that really worked?

I had the Pontiac version a few years back and sold it to a guy with a 64 buckets/console Bonneville. Don, had never seen the modifications instructions. Had GM itself done that the SlimJim might not have had such a rotten reputation.
