I once heard that the invention of the automatic transmission was the beginning of the end of civilization because it enabled women to drive.

 

When these were offered by Hurst they also included detailed instructions for modifying the transmission to survive manual shifting, I wonder if that really worked?

 

I had the Pontiac version a few years back and sold it to a guy with a 64 buckets/console Bonneville. Don, had never seen the modifications instructions. Had GM itself done that the SlimJim might not have had such a rotten reputation.
