This plane is way cool. I think I made a post on here when it first flew on JUly17th last year. They worked on restoring this plane for 16 years. It was reportedly the last restorable B29 in the world. Now there are 2 of them flying. It is a great story and a beautiful airplane. Thanks for posting.

 

Great effort to save another one from ruin. How many others are still flying? The only one I know of is FIFI. Too bad the Kee Bird was lost to a stupid mistake.

FiFi is the only other one. There are a few in museums and of course the Enola Gay in the Smithsonian. Kee Bird was tragic and what a stupid mistake. There are 2 B24's flying and they made over 12,000 of them. I saw FiFi fly in October the CAF's Wings Over Dallas show. I got goosebumps. I love those old warbirds.

 

That is very cool! You mentioned the Enola Gay is in the Smithsonian. What about Bock's Car? Wasn't it the B-29 that dropped the 2nd nuclear weapon?

 

Bock's Car dropped the second A-Bomb and I believe is in the USAF Museum in Ohio.

 

Yes, Bocks Car is in the USAF Museum at Wright Patterson base, Dayton, Ohio. I was there this fall. I was there when they opened at 9 am and left at 4:45 pm. They close at 5 pm. I really needed at least 1 or 2 more days to see everything. It's a must see if your near there. Oh, and did I mention, everything is free including the parking. It's the largest collection of military aircraft in the world.

 

That's cool. I visited the Smithsonian as a kid, but I've never been to the USAF Museum.

This is my Favorite, the SR-71 Blackbird. I was in San Diego a few years ago and got to see the one they have sitting outside the museum there. Takes two 454 Chevy engines to jump start it, oh yea!

 

The USAF Museum is on my bucket list. I actually saw the Enola Gay on August 6, 1995 right after the initial exhibit opened at the Smithsonian. That was 50 years to the day after she dropped the bomb. At that time they only had the fuselage and a couple of the engines on display since there was not enough room to accommodate the entire plane. Now she is fully assembled at the Smithsonian Annex at Dulles Airport. I have not seen her there.

I was working in the basement (yeah I know a house with a basement in Dallas) of one of my rent houses and felt more than heard that plane flying over. I immediately went outside to see what the noise was. It shook my chest and rib cage with it's vibrations. Nothing else sounds like those huge radial engines. I can imagine back in the war, just the sound of a sky full of those bombers coming... I went out to watch it every time I felt/heard it over the next few days.

 

There is another one at the USS Alabama battleship in Mobile, Alabama. They have the starter engine parked under the wing. They used a 401/425 Nailhead Buick with a Holley on top.
