Woke up with more gray hair this week
Well monday night I'm on the way home and my wife calls crying out your daughter broke her arm! I rushed to the emegency room to find them there and the arm was very croked above the wrist. She had fallen off the monkey bars at the neighbors It was a long night they dug around several minutes to insert an IV. I was ready to knock out the nurse. They put her to a very sedated state and set it back in place. She was screaming boody murder even with the drugs but now she does not remember that part. She is splinted now. We find out tomarrow if she gets a cast or possibly surgery
On a positive note if she ever gets into drugs I know the signs to watch for. She makes some pretty hilarious facial expressions on morphine.

I busted mine when I was 10. Thankfully is was just the ulna and not compound. Unfortunately I lost some degrees of rotation and that has kept me from learning to play guitar because I can't rotate my left arm enough to play the chords.
I hope all goes well with her and surgery is not needed.

me too...
when I was 12 or 13, smashed the elbow falling off a bike, the left arm doesn't quite straighten all the way...
regarding the gray hair, wait till she starts dating! talk about gray hair! and then driving, Mine turned 17 this year!
the good thing is there is something to go grey! could be worse, it could all fall out and you could be a pitchman for turtle wax!!
hope everything works out for your little one

Prayer for your baby girl--I know from exp it hurts you a lot more than her I know you would gladly jump on the bed in her place. Remember if it never hurts you would never know what good felt like. Andy

I know how you feel it`s always worse having your kids in the ER.....
Was in there 2 months ago with my 3 year old son split his face from the cheekbone to the bridge of his nose. He ran into the stone hearth of our fireplace......needless to say it has rubber bumpers and blocked off now

Yes, prayers for your little girl to get well soon. The more people we have close to us, the greater the chance for those grey hairs! But the good times, the smiles and giggles make it all worthwhile!!!

Sorry to hear Richard - she will heal soon and will be just fine. Kids heal quickly.
I had surgery 10 years ago and the numbnut trying to give me my IV had the same issue. My veins are visible in aerial photographs and she still couldn't get it. After turning my right hand black and blue, she started the left. I withheld at first, saying if she does not get it on the first shot, you would get someone else to do it - I was running out of hands. In the future, i will pass on an asian girl with coke bottle glasses to give me an IV...
I remember I was pretty happy with morph and norco back then and after my back surgery 3 years ago...
Better get that smile on film to show her later.

Sorry to hear that, Richard. I hope she recovers nicely. I broke my wrist when I was in 5th grade.... hurt like heck! They put me in a cast up to my shoulder for some reason. It's always scary when something happens to our kids!

Richard,
Prayers for your daughter, Hope everything turns out ok. It's hard to watch your kids hurting and not be able to do anything to make it alright. Keep us informed and pass on our thoughts to her.

Richard -
Best wishes to your daughter and your family. I have a young one myself and when she was just a baby she was diagnosed with RSV (respiratory issue). I remember checking on her every half hour at night to make sure she was breathing properly. Many trips to the hospital -I know that helpless feeling. On a good note, at least you have hair to turn grey -- I lost mine years ago.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. Looks like we are on the down hill. She got a cast put on today. I guess she will be one arm wenching for a while Sunday I was working on putting axles back under my trailer. While I was doing that she was conviced the light needed adjusted

Somebody said you will have more pain than she does. They are correct. I have two grown children and the daughter is 37 and she and her two boys live with us. I won't go into the details but suffice to say it is not her fault. She is a fantastic mother. The boys are ages 7 and 4 and the oldest one has some health issues. Hopefully he will outgrow most of it. When you are a grandparent you still just want to take them and hug them and try and make it go away. She is probaby a heck of a lot better now and hopefully enjoying the attention. I remember the pictures and she is a doll. I know from experience that fathers and daughters have a specail relationship. My daughter and I still do. When she hurts I still hurt. You guys will be fine but it ain't easy.

how cute, she is adorable (Dad, why are you taking a picture of me?) glad to hear she is ok. After four kids I have learned I can't always stop them from hurting themselves, I call my three girls Bump, Stitch and Bruise.

Glad it wasn't worse, Looks like in the picture that she is doing better than dad is, which is usally the case. The gray never stops. My youngest who is 27 and does landscaping, called me 2 weeks ago and said the chain saw kicked back on him and got his leg, I think I grayed 50% more before I found out it wasn't to bad. It never stops.

Other than an occational cry that she can't get a shirt on she is fine. Bath time is a real bitch because she loves to splash and play in the tub. Its a two person job to keep the arm outside and still get the rest of her clean. She still does not realise she has a hammer instead of a arm. She beats up my wife and I frequently with it.

I think this little girl is going to be your life challenge to you and your wife. I mean that in a good way. I think she will always be trying things from watching her in the pictures you have sent.
