Waiting for Classicoldsmobile.com

What is going on with this site? This is the only one I've noticed out of many that seems to have a problem with speed. It's only been a real problem for the last, oh 7 months on and off.

I get that Internet Brands owns the site and they provide hosting to us for "free". But it's getting ridiculously slow at times. Kind of reminds me of the old dial up days. I have high speed cable and my SP is not the problem. Neither is my puter or software/firmware. Getting ridiculous 1 minute delays to post replies and even open some threads.

If any of the mods know what's going on with the servers or host, I'd appreciate if they could respond.

I have been experiencing the same thing lately. The other day I couldn't get here at all. Kept on trying, then would say "Database error".

Hosting is so cheap now, I don't know how so many sites are running into issues. I've never had a problem... but then again I haven't achieved the same levels of traffic either

I have noticed the site is slow at times also. It might have something to do with all the ads they have running.

I don't believe it's the ads. I run FireFox with Adblock Plus, so none of the ads load for me and it is still slow.

Also it is weird, like Allan put in the title, why does it say 'Waiting for Oldsmobile.com' in the browser? I'd think it'd be Classicoldsmobile.com if anything.

Bryan, that's my bad. I should have typed in 'Waiting for ClassicOldsmobile.com' Didn't see that till after I posted it. But once you submit the thread title you can't go back and edit it.

That is strange... because mine really does say Oldsmobile.com

Also at the main title bar of the browser.

Site worked fine after 5pm or so but earlier on, it was as slow as molasses in a Swedish winter...

No real issues here. I.E. 9 being used. P.M. is o.k. Never have seen "data" base error. The site that displays an abundance of issues is Oldspower.com. Uploads seem to be fine.

Bryan, how did you capture the screen shot and paste in in? I am running Google Chrome and it won't let me do stuff like that. Is that a feature of Firefox?

I use a program called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program).

http://www.gimp.org/windows/

It'll do almost anything the expensive imaging software you pay for can do, but it is open source and free. I discovered it long ago when I used to run Linux, the Windows version is newer but has the same features from what I can tell.

If you install it, goto File, Create, Screenshot. Then it will ask, capture whole screen or capture window. From there you can resize/trim/etc. It kind of takes a lot of playing with to get used to.

Do an ALT- PRNT SCRN, then dump to Paint. Instant screenshot of active program to save to any file format you want. Do just a PRNT SCRN to shoot your whole desktop.

I am glad I have adblock for FF for sure.... I would hate to see those feminine product ads (shown in post above) on a mostly-guy car site. Of course they might interest some of the bikers who run the older model Sportsters. The temporary fix for oil blowing out of the breathers into the air filter housing was to use a maxi pad in the air filter housing to keep the oil from dripping down your leg......

EDIT - it looks like that FP ad screenshot was deleted by its poster last night...

I sent a PM to a member, and it kept resending the message every few days though I only sent it once.

Haha, I went to oldsmobile.com wondering why they had a forum haha. I've had no issues with this site so far.
